After the war, toy cars remained a favorite toy for many children and they were available from wooden blocks to metal. When plastic was introduced, many toy makers found it easier to produce toy cars at a lesser cost. Children slowly accepted cars that did not look like a specific car model and some even noted the value of toy cars because children could recognize their family car, giving valuable opinion regarding which car the family could buy next.

Toy makers did not just concentrate on making model cars, and made cars that can be driven by a child. The first version of the drivable toy cars were pedal cars that became very popular before the Second World War.

Today, there are several toy cars that kids can drive on their own, with designs ranging from the simple quad bikes to the scale model car of some of today’s hottest cars on the market. Prices start at $150 to $500, depending on the features, size and make of the toy car.
