Power Wheels Dune Racer Pink
While the Power Wheels Dune Racer pink variety may appear to be geared towards girls on the surface, that doesn’t have to be the case. There are plenty of boys out there who count pink among their favorite colors, and this toy is a fine choice for them as well.

Power Wheels Background and Benefits

The Power Wheels brand as we know it came to fruition, like many toys, over the course of the 1980’s. During that important decade, kids first became aware of how entertaining and enjoyable these toys truly are. By the time we reached the 1990’s, Power Wheels was a toy powerhouse, and offered one of the most popular toys of the decade. It wasn’t long before the company was absorbed, first by Mattel and then Fischer-Price. With one of the world’s biggest toy manufacturers at their back, there was nowhere to go for Power Wheels but up.

However, as the 90’s wore on and the age of the internet came to be, the popularity of the toys faltered. As children began turning more and more to computers, TV and video games, outdoor activities seemed to become less of a trend. However, the toys never stopped being available to buy. Eventually, over the past several years especially, these toys began to see a resurgence in popularity. Perhaps it’s because adults are realizing how important outdoor play is, or maybe children are just looking for something new. Whatever the reasoning may be, we think it’s wonderful that these toys are getting their due recognition once again.

Due to its two-seat design, the Power Wheels Dune Racer is a perfect toy for siblings, friends and cousins to pair off and have adventures in!

It’s no secret that these toys are fun, but did you know that they’re also good for healthy development for a child? By putting them behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, you’ll be teaching them basic motor skills that every child needs to learn. Along with this, the Power Wheels Dune Racer Pink can help encourage creativity, inspiring their imagination to dream up grand adventures they’re having. In reality, they couldn’t be safer, but in their minds they’ll be off exploring in their new truck.

Now it’s time to get into the details! First we’ll break down the design, as it’s what really sets this Dune Racer apart from other battery-powered vehicles. The off-road dune buggy style means that the vehicle lacks the side doors that most other ride on cars have. Instead, you’ll find a set of durable handlebars. The contours of the inside help ensure your child sits securely on the interior, as the toy doesn’t contain a seat belt. While this may sound like a red flag, the design of the vehicle makes it truly unnecessary.

The front trunk has enough space for your child to fit some of their favorite toys. We all remember how difficult it can be to leave your best belongings behind!

While we’re on the topic of safety, you’ll be glad to know that the Power Wheels Dune Racer Pink features a set of Power Lock® brakes. That means that as soon as your child lifts their foot off the pedal, the brakes will automatically be put on, making sure they don’t go anywhere without meaning to. You’ll also find an optional high-speed lockout system available. While the regular max speed for the toy is 5 MPH, this feature allows you to cut that in half, only allowing your child to reach up to 2.5 MPH.

The vehicle also includes a set of durable plastic wheels, each one outfitted with the useful Monster Traction™ treads. This will help the vehicle perform better in different terrain and conditions, such as grass, mud, dirt and more. The included 12V battery has a life that should last about an hour of continuous use. From there, you’ll need to get it on the charger for at least a few hours to get it fully juiced up. We recommend leaving the battery on the charger overnight, but be sure to take it off otherwise you’ll end up overcharging it! This can reduce the life of the battery and force you to purchase a replacement down the line.

Bottom Line

In our humble opinion, we believe the Power Wheels Dune Racer Pink is an excellent toy for a boy or a girl. It meets all of our safety standards, and offers countless hours of fun that kids are sure to come back to time and time again. Each time they step inside their Dune Racer, they’ll have a different experience. This will help ensure they won’t tire of this toy anytime soon! While the somewhat steep price point may make it a tough sell for some, if you’ve got the money to spend, we think this is one of the best toys you’ll find at this price range.
